Job Summary
Emergency Room Nurse - Rural Location. This critical access healthcare facility is seeking a qualified Emergency Room (ER) nurse to provide clinical care in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. The role involves managing a diverse patient population, including geriatric and trauma patients, with a focus on emergency interventions and patient stabilization.
Job Details
- Certifications Required: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC).
- Education Requirements: Valid nursing license to submit.
- Experience Requirements: Minimum of 1 year of ER experience.
- Location Requirements: Must have or obtain licensure applicable to the rural location.
- Schedule: Rotating shifts, 12 hours each shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Responsibilities include:
- Managing patients with conditions such as dementia, diabetes, COVID-19, wounds, trauma, and post-surgical recovery.
- Administering IV medications, fluids, and blood products.
- Titrating medications such as electrolytes, hypertensive drugs, IV antibiotics, and blood transfusions.
- Reading and interpreting electrocardiograms (EKGs).
- Collaborating within a team nursing model with nurse aides/CNA support.
- Utilizing EPIC electronic medical record system.
- Responding to emergency situations in a rural Critical Access facility with a 25-bed capacity and a Trauma Level designation.
- Communicating effectively with charge nurses and team members, with support from RT (Respiratory Therapy) equipment when needed.
- Supporting patient care involving ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen.
- Supporting scheduled orientation of 3 shifts and committing to every other holiday and alternating/As scheduled for holidays.
- No call or standby requirements.
- Support may include floating between ER and Med/Surg units as necessary.
- Scrubs provided; no specific color required.
- RTO (Request Time Off) must be submitted in advance, limited to 7 days or less per 13-week contract.
