Registered Nurse (RN)

General Information

We are seeking experienced Registered Nurses with a passion for providing high-quality patient care in a diverse medical environment. The facility features:

  • Number of Beds: 71
  • First-time travelers welcome with at least 2 years of Cerner or EPIC experience, and Level I or II Trauma experience, or 3+ years of Level III Trauma experience at a 300+ bed facility.
  • Experienced travelers must have at least 2 years of critical care experience (ICU, ER), including the most recent year in a Level I or II ER.

Patient Types

Candidates will provide care for a variety of patients including:

  • Multi-System Trauma (Level I)
  • STEMI
  • Stroke
  • CHF
  • COPD
  • GI and GU issues
  • OB/GYN
  • Pediatrics
  • Psychiatric care

Expect to receive several transfers from other facilities.

Patient Ratios

  • ER: 1:4
  • Medical/Surgical Holds: 1:5
  • ICU Holds: 1:3

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • Security/Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI - nationally recognized/JACHO accepted)
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)

Skills Required

The role requires proficiency in the following skills:

  • Tracheostomy care
  • Ventilator care
  • ICU drip care and maintenance
  • Chest tube management
  • Arterial line and central venous line care
  • PICC and midline catheter care
  • Foley catheter insertion and maintenance
  • Splint and orthopedic device application and management
  • Bipap and high-flow oxygen therapy
  • Continuous bladder irrigation

Support on the Unit

Additional staff members include:

  • CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) - Ratio: 1:12
  • Receptionist/HUC (Health Unit Coordinator)
  • Charge Nurse
  • Phlebotomy services available until 0300
  • IV/VAT Team for intravenous care
  • Hospitalist availability
  • No telemetry monitoring technician on site

Technology and Equipment

The unit is equipped with:

  • EMR: Cerner
  • IV Pumps: Plum 360
  • Medication Dispensing: Omnicell
  • Monitors: Spacelabs

Orientation

New travelers or those returning after a year will undergo:

  • 24 hours of classroom training
  • 24 hours of hands-on training on the unit

Rehires will have their orientation based on the time since last working here.

Scheduling

Scheduling details include:

  • Weekend rotation: Every other weekend or four weekend days per month if on block schedule
  • Holiday commitments: One major and one minor seasonal holiday according to policy
  • Approval of time off possible for up to 7 days, with certain blackout dates

Shift Times

Available shift times are:

  • 7:00 AM - 7
