Key Responsibilities

  • Provide independent, hands-on nursing care in a high-acuity, Level I Trauma Emergency Department with 51–60 beds/bays
  • Manage a diverse patient population spanning infant through geriatric age groups, including trauma, cardiac, neurologic, medical, surgical, burn, behavioral health, and pediatric cases
  • Maintain patient ratios of 1:4 standard ED, 1:3 high acuity, and 1:2 trauma/critical care
  • Perform and manage advanced airway and respiratory interventions including mechanical ventilation, RSI medication administration, procedural sedation, CPAP/BiPAP, chest tube setup and care, and tracheostomy care
  • Care for inpatient boarders managed within the ED, including pediatric and NICU/PICU boarders when held in the department
  • Collaborate with ED Techs and interdisciplinary team members to deliver safe, efficient emergency care

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience; no new graduates
  • Minimum 1 full year of recent, hands-on Emergency Department experience in a high-acuity setting (observational or orientation-only ER experience does not qualify)
  • Active Pennsylvania RN License
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications — all required
  • Independent competency with advanced airway management; floor or stepdown-only airway experience does not qualify
  • Local candidates are welcome; local rate applies

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Experience in a Level I Trauma Center environment
  • Comfort managing behavioral health crises and burn patients in an emergency setting
  • Prior experience with pediatric emergency care, including NICU/PICU boarder management
