Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a clinical decision unit within a prominent healthcare setting. This role involves working 3x12 hour night shifts with a focus on providing exceptional care to adult and geriatric patients.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care in a clinical decision unit environment.
• Monitor and manage patient care, adhering to a 5:1 nurse-to-patient ratio.
• Float to the emergency department as necessary, ensuring seamless patient care delivery.
• Administer medications and therapies as per established protocols, including IV therapy and blood product administration.

Patient Population

The registered nurse will primarily work with adult and geriatric patients, managing complex medical conditions and monitoring critical health indicators.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience with at least 1-year in a related specialty.
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and CPI (CPI must be obtained through Qualivis and scheduled at least one week prior to the start date).
• Experience with telemetry and emergency holding preferred.

Special Skills and Experience

• Proficient in IV therapy and phlebotomy, including port access and peripheral line management.
• Familiarity with medication protocols, particularly involving anticoagulants and cardiac drips without titration.
• Experience with neurological and psychiatric conditions, including CVA, seizure disorders, and substance withdrawal management.
• Knowledge of respiratory and thoracic care, including CPAP/BiPAP management, high flow nasal cannula, and ventilated patient care.
• Experience with Cerner electronic charting is required.

Work Schedule

The position requires overnight shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM, with two weekends worked per month. Options for 36 or 48 guaranteed hours are available, with overtime accrued after 48 hours in a week.
