Travel Nursing Job Details

  • Nursing Schedule: 36 hours per week; 12-hour night shifts, typically 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Holiday Requirement: Holiday rotation with permanent staff
  • Call Requirement: None
  • Floating: No floating required
  • Orientation: Three shifts
  • Emergency Department: Approximately 18 beds, including three trauma bays
  • Patient Volume: Approximately 90 patients per day, with peak-season volume reaching up to 140 patients per day
  • Typical Nurse-to-Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:4–5, depending on acuity
  • Scheduling: Self-scheduling and block scheduling may be available, subject to manager approval

Emergency Room RN Job Requirements

  • At least 2 years of recent Emergency Room or Emergency Department nursing experience
  • Active Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in Georgia
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
  • TNCC certification preferred
  • Strong IV insertion and medication-drip management skills
  • Experience caring for high-acuity patients and managing ICU holds preferred
  • Ability to interpret cardiac rhythms and monitor patients in a telemetry-equipped Emergency Department
  • Proficiency troubleshooting ventilators, BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow equipment
  • Ability to multitask effectively and remain calm in a fast-paced clinical setting
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and patient-service skills

Emergency Nursing Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive emergency nursing care for patients with medical, surgical, psychiatric, and traumatic conditions
  • Assess and prioritize patients presenting with abdominal pain, chest pain, shortness of breath, stroke symptoms, DKA, sickle cell complications, hypertension, infections, behavioral health concerns, motor vehicle injuries, and other emergencies
  • Stabilize high-acuity and trauma patients, including those requiring transfer to a higher level of care
  • Manage emergency and critical-care medication drips, IV therapies, monitoring, and ongoing reassessments
  • Care for Emergency Department holds while maintaining safe, organized patient flow
  • Perform or assist with triage based on experience and department needs
  • Obtain vital signs, draw labs, initiate IV access, administer medications, and coordinate diagnostic testing
  • Read and interpret cardiac monitor strips and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
  • Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapy, radiology, pharmacy, technicians, and support staff
  • Deliver compassionate emergency care while maintaining a strong focus on customer service and patient satisfaction
  • Document patient care accurately in the department's electronic medical record system
