Emergency Department Nurse

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Emergency Department Nurse to join our team in a fast-paced, 28-bed emergency department with an on-site Cath Lab. This role offers the opportunity to work in a Primary Stroke Center, utilizing virtual neurology services for stroke care.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in the emergency department.
• Stabilize walk-in trauma patients prior to transfer to specialized facilities.
• Assist in the care of pediatric patients and coordinate transfers to appropriate pediatric care facilities.
• Utilize EPIC charting for patient documentation and care coordination.

Unit Information

• 28 beds with capacity for up to 6 hallway stretchers.
• Average annual patient volume of approximately 38,000.
• Nurse to patient ratio of 4-5 patients per nurse.

Scheduling Details

• No on-call or floating responsibilities.
• Weekend requirements: Every third weekend.
• Holiday requirements: Every other holiday.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in an Emergency Department setting is preferred.
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS.
• Proficient in using B. Braun IV pumps, Point-of-Care lactic and glucometer devices, EKG machines, Philips monitors, bedside bladder scanners, and Ceribell rapid EEG devices.
