Description

American Traveler is seeking an RN for the Emergency Department requiring a GA or compact RN license and at least 2 years of ED experience in a Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital.

Details

  • Level 1 Trauma, Chest Pain Center, and Stroke Center teaching hospital with 637 licensed beds
  • Emergency Department has 61 beds plus surge capacity
  • Patient population includes chest pain, strokes, diabetes, abdominal pain, MVCs, HTN, stabbings, and mental health cases
  • RN to patient ratio of 1:4 depending on assigned zone
  • 12-hour day shifts from 7A-7P totaling 36 hours per week
  • Weekend rotation of 5-6 shifts out of 12 on a 6-week schedule
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating required within the ER, with possible floating to Baldwin
  • Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors
  • Unit equipped with central telemetry monitoring, PCA pumps, bladder scanners, rapid infusers, and portable vital sign monitors

Requirements

  • Active RN license (GA or Compact) required
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications required
  • BCR certification required, including passing an EKG competency exam as part of compliance
  • National certification in emergency nursing preferred but not required
  • Minimum 2 years of ED RN experience required
  • Experience administering drips including Heparin, Insulin, Cardene, Dopamine, Epinephrine, Fentanyl, Propofol, and Levophed
  • Level 1 Trauma emergency room nursing experience required
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
  • One professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required

Additional Information

  • Work alongside CNAs, unit secretaries, charge nurses, and a dedicated PICC team
  • 24/7 support from Respiratory Therapy, Hospitalists, and Intensivists
  • Phlebotomy support available along with nurse draws
  • Facility has a designated Transport Team for patient transport
  • Orientation includes 1 day of general orientation with educational modules and 2 days of departmental orientation
  • Travelers required to work approximately 75% of major holidays, including Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's
  • RTO requests subject to manager approval
  • Scrub color for RNs is navy
  • Free parking available around campus with paid options in parking decks
  • Unit culture described as busy with a strong team-based approach
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • No radius rule applies for GA facilities, with the same rate offered to local travelers
  • Previous employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position
