Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg/Observation

Job Details:

• 12-hour variable shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• 36 guaranteed hours per week
• Float to all inpatient units as needed, including IMC and CTU units
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Contract eligible for 36 hours of low census unbillable hours, which can be taken in hour increments as needed; unit typically low censuses in 4-hour increments
• 8-bed observation unit with a patient ratio of 1:4
• Treat patients with conditions including anemia, cellulitis, COPD, dehydration, pre and post-op urology and GI cases, and administer drips including Cardizem, Nitro, Insulin, and Heparin
• High volume of admissions and discharges with average patient stays up to 48 hours
• Must be able to read and interpret EKG strips; EKG exam required during compliance
• Minimum 3 years of experience required
• 1 prior travel assignment required
• EPIC charting experience required
• Background in observation, med/surg, or telemetry units preferred
• Required certifications: WI RN License, BLS, ACLS (AHA or ARC); NIHSS highly preferred
• Associate Degree or Certificate required
• Any color scrubs acceptable

This facility operates a Short Stay Observation Unit providing specialized intermediate-level care for patients requiring close monitoring and short-term treatment. The unit supports a wide range of medical conditions and procedures, offering a dynamic environment with a high volume of admissions and discharges. The facility emphasizes collaborative teamwork, independent practice, and delivering an exceptional patient experience across multiple inpatient units.
