Job Details:

• Work in a Med/Surg Telemetry unit caring for patients including R/O chest pain, post cath lab, CHF, AFib, R/O CVAs, TIAs, post IR, cellulitis, and AKI
• 1-2 years of experience in an acute care setting required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Day shift patient ratio of 1:4-5 and night shift patient ratio of 1:6-8
• Admit and discharge 2-3 patients daily with an average patient stay of 36 hours
• Skills required include ostomy care, drain management, IV skills, drip management (heparin, insulin, Cardizem, Amiodarone)
• No ventilator or trach experience required as most patients are ambulatory
• Basic Med/Surg skills and experience in an observation unit preferred
• Experience with admissions, discharges, and fast-paced environments required
• Charting and equipment includes EPIC, Alaris, Pyxis, and GE monitors
• Unit support includes charge nurse, unit secretary 24/7, hospitalist 24/7, respiratory therapy in-house 24/7, centralized telemetry monitoring with tele tech 24/7, and phlebotomy assistance
• Float assignments may include MSUs and ED Holding at a 1:4 ratio, with travelers floated first
• Orientation consists of 4-8 hours of NEO orientation on day shift followed by one full shift on the unit based on experience
• Weekend rotation is every other weekend
• Schedule is created 6 weeks at a time and provided 2 weeks before the start of the schedule
• No on-call requirements
• Cannot work more than 60 hours in a week or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts per fatigue policy
• Holiday expectation is 1 holiday per season, including Christmas Eve/Christmas Day and NYE/New Year's Day
• Scrub color: any color accepted, no camouflage or denim
• Required certification: BLS
• Free parking available in designated areas

This facility is a large 933-bed hospital holding a Level III Trauma Center designation and Level III NICU, as well as Magnet Designation and recognition as a Comprehensive Stroke Center. The telemetry unit consists of 28 beds and is supported by a robust team of healthcare professionals available around the clock, ensuring a collaborative and well-resourced environment for both staff and patients.
