CVOR Travel Nurse Job Details
- Position: CVOR Registered Nurse (RN)
- Location: Midland, Texas
- Assignment Type: Travel nursing contract
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,750–$2,890
- Start Date: October 17, 2026
- End Date: February 20, 2027
- Contract Duration: Approximately 18 weeks
- Schedule: 5 shifts per week
- Shift: 8-hour day shifts, 6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m.
- Hours: 40 hours per week
- Call: Required after 2:30 p.m., including weekends and holidays
- Weekend Coverage: Required based on staffing needs
- Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics
- Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:1
- Electronic Medical Record: Cerner experience preferred
CVOR Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license; pending licensure may be considered at submission but must be active before the start date.
- At least 1 year of professional nursing experience, with CVOR or cardiovascular operating room experience strongly preferred.
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.
- Previous experience in a community hospital setting.
- Proficiency with perioperative documentation and electronic charting; Cerner experience preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of operating room safety, infection prevention, specimen handling, universal protocol, radiation safety, and laser safety.
- Ability to support weekend and holiday coverage and participate in required call.
- Flu vaccination is required; approved medical or religious exemptions and declinations may be accepted.
- Ability to meet travel nursing compliance, credentialing, and screening requirements.
CVOR Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide circulating and perioperative nursing care for cardiovascular, vascular, thoracic, and hybrid operating room procedures.
- Assist with procedures including CABG, mitral valve replacement, thoracotomy, VATS, mediastinoscopy, pericardial window, carotid endarterectomy, carotid stenting, AAA repair, EVAR, and TEVAR.
- Support cases involving IABP, femoral cannulation, atherectomy, aortic repair, vascular bypass, and other complex cardiovascular interventions.
- Complete patient assessments, prepare patients and equipment, and promote safe transitions throughout the perioperative process.
- Administer blood and blood products safely and monitor patients during conscious sedation as directed by procedural protocols.
- Perform or assist with urinary catheterization, peripheral IV placement, wound management, and other appropriate perioperative nursing interventions.
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control practices, surgical counts, specimen labeling, time-out procedures, and patient safety standards.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia professionals, surgical technologists, nurses, and other members of the interdisciplinary operating room team.
- Document care accurately in Cerner and communicate changes in patient status promptly.
