Cardiovascular OR Surgical Technologist – Berkeley Medical Center
Contract: 13 weeks or longer
Shift: Flexible—submit the clinician’s preferred schedule
Setting: Acute care
EMR: Epic
License Required at Submission: No
BSN Required: No
Scrubs: Hospital-provided ceil blue surgical scrubs
Direct Hire: Permanent opportunities also available
Required Qualifications
- AHA BLS
- Strong surgical experience in at least one of the following:
- Cardiac surgery
- Thoracic surgery
- Vascular surgery
- Experienced clinicians only
- No first-time travelers or clinicians new to the specialty
- Previous travel experience strongly preferred
Surgical Cases
Cardiac Surgery
- CABG
- Open and robotic valve repair/replacement
- ECMO
- Transplant procedures
Thoracic Surgery
- Robotic, endoscopic and open procedures
- Lung resections and VATS
- Open and robotic esophageal procedures
- POEM and hiatal hernia repair
- Mediport placement
- EGD
- Gastrointestinal and respiratory stent procedures
Vascular Surgery
- Diagnostic angiography
- Percutaneous interventions
- Surgical endarterectomy
- Dialysis-access procedures
- Open and endovascular AAA repair
- Visceral arterial repair/intervention
- Amputations
Call Requirements
- One night of call per week
- One weekend of call per month
- Holiday call as needed
- 30-minute response time
- On-call housing may be available when needed
Orientation and Floating
- One-week onboarding at Ruby Memorial Hospital
- Clinician will then transition to Berkeley Medical Center
- May float between surgical services within the Berkeley OR
- CSTs are not required to cover Sterile Processing
- A designated charge person is present in the OR daily
Cancellation Policy
- Up to two shifts per 13-week assignment
- One shift for assignments shorter than 13 weeks
