Job Summary:
Operating Room Open Heart (OR OH) nurse position in an acute care setting. This role involves circulating in cardiac surgery procedures such as CABG, valve repair or replacement, TAVRs, and aortic root surgeries, along with other specialties as needed. The position requires providing high-quality patient care within a well-equipped surgical environment.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 4 x 10-hour days with call, generally totaling 40 hours per week, with 10-15 days of call per month, including weekends.
- Required Qualifications: Valid license to practice as a registered nurse, minimum 1 year of operating room experience including CVOR (Cardiovascular Operating Room) experience, and active certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS - American Heart Association/American Red Cross), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS - American Heart Association/American Red Cross), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS - American Heart Association/American Red Cross).
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience working within a hybrid catheterization lab during TAVR procedures.
- Float: Float within the department may be required to assist in other specialties such as urology, orthopedics, plastics, ENT, etc., depending on comfort and skill level.
- Additional Information: Orientation typically lasts one week to familiarize new staff with department protocols and procedures. The department has 7 operating rooms, including 1 CVOR and a hybrid catheterization lab, with an ICU of 10 beds. The nurse-to-patient ratio is approximately 1-5 cases per day per room, with an average of 10-20 cases daily across the department.
