Job Summary
Operating Room (OR) Nurse with specialization in Open Heart (OH) procedures for a Level I trauma center located in the region. The position involves providing circulating and scrub duties across various service lines, including cardiac, vascular, thoracic, and general surgeries. The role requires adaptability to float across all campuses and a commitment to maintaining high standards of patient care in a fast-paced surgical environment.
Job Details
- Schedule: Days shift, 10 hours per day, minimum of 40 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: 24 months of current/recent operating room / CVOR experience, with 80% of experience in Cardiac cases and 20% in General cases. Proficiency in Cardiac, Vascular, and Thoracic surgeries is required. Basic General Surgery circulating experience is also required. EPIC electronic medical system experience within the previous 3 years is necessary. Trauma Level I experience is highly preferred; Level II experience is required. No first-time travelers; must have completed a travel assignment within the previous 15 months. Scrub experience including open heart scrubbing is required.
- Certifications: BLS (AHA or ARC), active Iowa license or multistate compact license at the time of submission.
- Additional Information:
- Must be able to work 1-2 of the upcoming 3 summer holidays unless the unit is closed.
- Traveler will be required to float across multiple campuses.
- Orientation includes approximately 2-3 weeks in general OR rooms, 2 weeks circulating and scrubbing in vascular, followed by cardiac cases.
- Call schedule: up to 2 overnight shifts per week and 1 weekend per month with a Fri 5 p.m. to Mon 6:30 a.m. call window.
- Strong proficiency required in open heart scrubbing and general circulating duties.
- No first-time travelers; candidates must have previous travel experience completed within the last 15 months.
