Travel RN Job Details
- Assignment Type: 13-week travel Registered Nurse assignment
- Location: On-site in Parkersburg, West Virginia
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,220–$2,340
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Shift: 12-hour nights
- Schedule: Every other weekend; holidays as needed to meet unit needs
- Call Requirement: None
- Patient Ratios: 1:1 for fresh hearts and devices, 1:2 for ICU-status patients, and 1:3 for step-down-status patients
- Unit: 18-bed cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) with mixed ICU and step-down acuity
- Charting: Epic
- Orientation: One week including required modules, Epic training, and unit-based orientation
- Scheduling: Self-scheduling and block-scheduling requests are considered based on unit needs
Travel Nurse Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in West Virginia
- At least 1 year of acute care nursing experience, including cardiovascular ICU, CVICU, CVOR, or comparable critical care experience
- Experience caring for patients more than 6 hours after open-heart surgery
- Recent experience with CRRT, temporary pacemakers, permanent pacemakers, acute MI care, and pre- and post-cath patients
- Experience with mediastinal and chest tubes, mechanical ventilation, arterial lines, hypothermia protocols, and titratable cardiac medications
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association
- Ability to interpret cardiac rhythms and complete independent rhythm assessments every four hours
- IABP, Impella, and Swan-Ganz/hemodynamic monitoring experience preferred
- Copy of an unexpired driver’s license required for submission under the applicable radius policy
- Ability to float to other critical care and acute care areas as needed; travelers float first
CVICU Travel RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill cardiovascular and thoracic surgery patients
- Monitor and manage patients following CABG, valve procedures, VATS, lobectomy, and other major cardiac or thoracic surgeries
- Care for patients with atrial fibrillation, heart block, bradycardia, STEMI, NSTEMI, cardiac arrest, cardiogenic shock, heart failure, pulmonary embolism, and blood pressure instability
- Safely titrate medications such as Cardizem, amiodarone, nitroglycerin, vasopressors, inotropes, insulin, heparin, sedatives, and analgesics according to clinical parameters and protocol
- Manage ventilators, tracheostomy ventilation, BiPAP, CPAP, high-flow oxygen, and related respiratory support equipment
- Assess and manage arterial lines, chest tubes, mediastinal drains, temporary pacemakers, and other invasive monitoring devices
- Perform ongoing cardiac rhythm interpretation, hemodynamic assessment, and clinical evaluation
- Collaborate with intensivists, hospitalists, respiratory therapists, patient care technicians, and other members of the care team
- Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and participate in emergency interventions
- Maintain accurate documentation in Epic and support safe transitions of care
