  • Unit: CVICU / ICU
  • Shift: 12-hour nights, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
  • Hours per Week: 36 hours (open to 36s and 48s)
  • Shift Duration: 12-hour nights
  • Contract Length: 8 weeks
  • Start Date: 10/19/2026
  • Float: Required to stepdown and/or med surg within competencies
  • Schedule Notes: Every other weekend required; holidays as needed; no block scheduling

Job Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York, or readiness to obtain immediately upon offer if eligible
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience
  • Minimum of 1 year of specialty experience in CVICU, ICU, or a comparable critical care setting
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Strong cardiac surgery and critical care nursing experience required
  • Experience with CABG procedures, valve surgeries, Swan-Ganz monitoring, and IABP management required
  • Prior travel nurse experience preferred, but not required
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit and float as needed within competency

Responsibilities

  • Deliver expert care to critically ill cardiac surgery patients in a high-acuity CVICU environment
  • Monitor and manage patients transferred directly from the operating room to the ICU
  • Support post-operative recovery for CABG and valve surgery patients
  • Perform and interpret hemodynamic monitoring, including Swan-Ganz catheter management
  • Care for patients requiring advanced mechanical support such as IABP therapy
  • Collaborate with physicians, surgical teams, and interdisciplinary clinical staff to ensure safe, effective patient care
  • Float to stepdown or medical-surgical units when needed and within competencies
  • Maintain flexibility with weekend, holiday, and night shift scheduling as required
