CVICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

The CVICU Registered Nurse will provide critical care for patients in the cardiac unit, specializing in post-operative care following cardiac surgeries. This role involves a focus on monitoring hemodynamic stability and managing complex medical needs. The position is designed for experienced nurses who are equipped to handle high-acuity cases and provide excellent patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients recovering from cardiac surgeries.
• Monitor patients for hemodynamic changes and manage inotropic medications.
• Administer treatments and therapies as directed by medical protocols.
• Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes.
• Participate in the management of critical care technologies including ECMO and CRRT.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies and best practices.
• Support other nursing staff through teamwork and leadership when necessary.

Qualifications

• Active RN License in the state of practice.
• Minimum of two years of nursing experience in CVICU.
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, CPI, and NIH.
• Preferred certifications: OCN and TCNN.

Shift Information

This position requires flexible shift scheduling, including:

• 3x12-hour rotating shifts, primarily from 11:00 to 23:30.
• Other shifts may include day and night rotations based on unit needs.

Unit Details

• Working with an average daily census of 3-5 patients.
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2.
• Responsible for managing common diagnoses including post-operative care for CABG, MVR, and AVR surgeries.
• Floating to the MSICU may be required based on patient care needs.

Additional Requirements

• Willingness to work every third weekend and participate in holiday rotations as scheduled.
• Availability for 24-36 hours of on-call duty as part of a rotating schedule.
