Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) is responsible for evaluating patients and assisting physicians with patient care. This includes planning, implementing, and documenting nursing care based on patient needs. The RN identifies patient needs, determines priorities for care, and develops individualized care plans through assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation. Responsibilities also include performing therapeutic nursing interventions, managing patient care, and advocating for evidence-based practices to ensure high-quality, patient-centric care.
Required Qualifications:
• 2+ years of experience working in Cardiovascular ICU
• Strong experience in telemetry, stepdown/surgical, thoracic, and vascular stepdown
• LVAD competency
• ASN required
• NJ State Professional Registered Nurse license or multi-state compact license
• BLS-AHA certification
• ACLS-AHA certification
• NIHSS certification
• CEU Contact Stroke (4 hours)
• Telemetry certification
Preferred Qualifications:
• BSN preferred
Additional Information:
• Float requirement: Yes – to other ICUs
• Experience with balloon pump, CCRT, ECMO devices, cardiac outputs, SWAN, chest tubes, and post-cardiac surgery patients
• Strong open-heart background
