Opportunity:

RN - CVICU

Job Details:

• 36 or 48-hour contract options available
• Shift times: 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend rotation required
• 1-2 holidays expected per contract
• No on-call responsibilities
• 6-week scheduling cycle with schedule received 1-2 weeks prior to start
• Cannot work more than 60 hours in a week or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts per fatigue policy
• Minimum 3 years of ICU experience with 1 year of CVICU experience required
• First-time travelers accepted if experience requirements are met
• Patient ratios: 1:1 or 1:2 for regular ICU status, 1:3 for mixed status
• Care for cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgical patients including post-op CABG, TAVR/TMVR, valve repairs/replacements, heart transplants, esophagectomy, pneumonectomy, lobectomy, AAA, TVAR, and carotid endarterectomy
• Must be competent in invasive line monitoring including Swan Ganz and A-lines, pacemakers (epicardial and transvenous), chest tubes, cardiac medications (inotropes, vasopressors, sedation/paralytics), ventilator/trach management, and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• RN draws from invasive lines only; peripheral sticks not permitted
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Experience with ECMO, CVVH, IABP, and VAD preferred
• Equipment used: Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, GE monitors
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS
• CCRN certification preferred
• Scrub color: Any solid color, professional attire; no graphics, logos, or designs
• Free parking available with shuttle service for day shift and attached parking structure for night shift
• Up to 7 days of requested time off may be approved per contract

Facility:

This facility is a Level II Trauma Center and Magnet Designated hospital with 933 beds, offering comprehensive cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgical services. The unit is a 30-bed CVICU supported by a dedicated CVICU Intensivist, CT Surgeon, General Intensivist, Hospitalist, and ICU-designated Respiratory Therapist all available 24/7. Additional support includes a charge nurse, HUC coverage around the clock, bedside and nurses station telemetry monitoring, and phlebotomy assistance for peripheral blood draws. The facility also holds designations as a Comprehensive Stroke Center and Level III NICU.
