Opportunity:

RN - CVICU

Job Details:

• Day shifts available from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM or night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• 36 or 48-hour contract options available
• Every other weekend rotation required
• 1 to 2 holidays expected per contract
• No on-call responsibilities
• Cannot work more than 60 hours per week or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts per facility fatigue policy
• Up to 7 days of requested time off may be approved
• 6-week scheduling cycle with schedule provided 1 to 2 weeks prior to start
• Minimum 3 years of ICU experience with at least 1 year of CVICU experience required
• First-time travelers accepted if minimum experience requirements are met
• Patient ratios: 1:1 or 1:2 for regular ICU status, 1:3 for mixed status
• Care for cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgical patients including post-op CABG, TAVR/TMVR, valve repairs and replacements, heart transplants, esophagectomy, pneumonectomy, lobectomy, AAA, TVAR, and carotid endarterectomy
• Required certifications: BLS and ACLS; CCRN preferred
• Must be competent in invasive line monitoring including Swan Ganz and arterial lines, pacemakers (epicardial and transvenous), chest tubes, cardiac medications including inotropes, vasopressors, sedation and paralytics, ventilator and trach management, and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Experience with CV surgical equipment such as ECMO, CVVH, IABP, and VAD preferred
• RN draws from invasive lines only; peripheral sticks not permitted
• Equipment used includes Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and GE monitors
• May float to ED Holding, other ICUs (MRICU, SICU, CICU, Neuro ICU), MSU, Sitter, or PACU Surge as needed
• 1-day orientation including 2 to 4 hours of nurse educator onboarding followed by preceptor time on unit
• Scrubs must be any solid color and professional; no graphics, logos, or designs permitted
• Free parking available with shuttle service for day shifts and attached parking structure for night shifts

This large 933-bed facility is a Level II Trauma Center and Magnet Designated institution, reflecting its commitment to nursing excellence and high-quality patient care. The facility also holds designations as a Level III NICU and Comprehensive Stroke Center.
