Job Summary:
Intensive Care Unit Cardiovascular (ICU OH) registered nurses are needed for a short-term assignment in a pediatric intensive care unit located in a medical center. The role involves providing high-acuity care for critically ill pediatric patients with diverse medical conditions, including respiratory, neurological, gastrointestinal, and cardiac cases. The position requires adaptability and strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with the medical team during scheduled night shifts.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Valid PALS certification; experience with intubated/ventilated patients; ICU level of care experience; candidates without these skills will not be considered for the role
- Preferred Qualifications: ECMO experience (taking care of patients, not pump management); CRRT experience
- Float: Float rotation may be required, covering all childrens units and NICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Pediatric Hematology Oncology, Emergency Room for inpatient holds, Pediatric Coronary Intensive Care Unit)
- Additional Information: The team admits all ICU level of care patients, including all body systems, with patient ratios of 2:1, 1:1 for higher acuity, and 3:1 for lower acuity. Common procedures include central line placement, chest tube insertion, sedation, lumbar puncture, and intubation. The facility provides a PICU manual upon arrival outlining care guidelines. Candidates must be flexible for changes, possess good communication skills, and maintain a friendly, positive attitude. The assignment begins on 10/19/2026 and concludes on 01/18/2027, with work every other weekend and potential on-call duties.
