Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Correctional Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year License: Current and valid nursing license Certifications: BLS, ACLS, MOAB (certification provided) Must-Have: Must work 2 out of 3 holiday bundles Description: Block scheduling requests approved based on unit need. Must work 2 out of 3 holiday bundles: Thanksgiving & the day after, Christmas Eve & Christmas Day, New Year's Eve & New Year's Day. This facility is a smoke-free environment with no designated smoking areas. Must be able to sustain being on your feet for 80% of the shift. No local candidates within a 100-mile radius. Must be able to pass a facility background check. COVID vaccine is optional. The facility capacity is approximately 1900 inmates, with an average daily population fluctuating around 1640. RNs will provide routine and emergency healthcare to inmates. RNs will conduct health assessments and make necessary referrals to providers, including detoxification, dental, and mental health professionals. The RN will be responsible for triaging and assessing new patients to the facility, conducting detox rounds per protocol. Must possess skills in phlebotomy, starting IVs, high flow nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oral suctioning, and oxygen administration. RNs will maintain isolation precautions as needed. Preferred experience includes correctional, emergency department, or medical-surgical nursing. Candidates without correctional experience must have prior emergency department experience. Candidates without ED or correctional experience must have at least 2 years of medical-surgical experience in a large facility. The RN will conduct urgent care and sick calls in the correctional environment. Special equipment usage is required. Floating between different areas may be necessary. RTO restrictions apply; greater than 7 days requires approval. This position offers guaranteed hours of 36 per week with a maximum of 3 call-offs allowed throughout the assignment. All contracts and extensions require a minimum duration. Previous charge experience is preferred. Orientation hours are included in the training. Clinical modules may be required and should be completed during the orientation period. Pass/fail assessment for EKG testing is a requirement.
