Cardiac ICU (CCU) RN
Facility: The Johns Hopkins Hospital Unit: CCU – Zayed 5 West, Cardiac ICU Location: Baltimore, Maryland
Shift: Day/Night shift
- Active RN license.
- BLS and ACLS certifications.
- Minimum 2 years of current CCU or CVSICU nursing experience.
- Strong experience with advanced cardiac equipment, including:
- Impella
- IABP (Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump)
- PA catheters (Pulmonary Artery Catheters)
- CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy)
2. Preferred Qualifications
- EPIC charting experience.
- ECMO experience.
- Critical Care Certification.
- Trauma course.
3. Unit Details
- Unit type: Cardiac Care Unit / Cardiac ICU.
- Capacity: 12 beds.
- Acuity: High-acuity critical care.
- Patient population: Patients with acute myocardial infarction (heart attack) and complications such as:
- Cardiogenic shock.
- Post-infarction angina.
- Congestive heart failure.
4. Essential Clinical Skills
The candidate should have hands-on experience caring for patients with advanced cardiac devices, including:
- Impella and IABP.
- ECMO.
- CRRT.
- PA catheters.
- LVADs (Left Ventricular Assist Devices).
Important: The unit states that almost all patients have some type of cardiac device. Candidates need substantial experience managing these patients, not just general ICU experience.
5. Floating
- Floating may be required to another unit with a similar skill set.
