License: Current RN License Certifications: - Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association - ACLS (American Heart Association) Must-Have: - Cardiac experience is required - Stepdown/PCU experience Description: Under general supervision, provides nursing care in a hospital to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients. Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments. Notes all changes in physicians' orders for assigned patients. Assists physicians in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatments. Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients. Observes the physiological manifestations of patients and intervenes when necessary. Administers medication as prescribed. Initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products. Delivers patient care competently. Interacts with family and patients in sharing care plans during hospitalization and at discharge. Informs patients and families of hospital procedures. Makes referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel. Delegates tasks to support staff. Performs other duties as assigned. Candidates must have experience with chest tubes, drips, and related cardiovascular procedures. The unit consists of a mixed cardiovascular floor with step-down and med-surg capabilities. May be asked to interpret EKGs, monitor rhythms and rates, and collaborate with rehabilitation and education for discharge planning. Possesses knowledge of professional nursing theories, practices, techniques, and procedures. Demonstrates the ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services. Maintains good working relationships with colleagues. Exhibits good verbal and written communication skills. Effectively responds to the cultural and language needs of patients and visitors. Some computer skills are required.
