Contract | 13-Week Assignment | Days, 5x8 | Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–2:30 PM | On-call and weekend call required as determined by facility staffing needs | Expected 36 hours/week
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize the nursing process throughout the perioperative phases, including comprehensive patient assessment and development of individualized care plans.
- Perform and coordinate nursing interventions as a first assistant, including wound exposure, hemostasis techniques, and wound closure planning in collaboration with the surgeon.
- Apply and monitor strict principles of asepsis, infection control, and universal precautions throughout all surgical procedures.
- Operate and assist with cardiovascular surgical equipment including Stryker cameras and Zoll defibrillators within an EPIC EMR environment.
- Care for patients undergoing CABG, surgical valve procedures, thoracic surgery, and cardiogenic shock interventions.
- Float to other areas and provide on-call support as required by the facility.
Required Qualifications
- Current RN license — must meet eligibility criteria for licensure in the state of Missouri or currently hold a Missouri RN license.
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
- ACLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
- Minimum 1 year of CVOR experience.
- Flu vaccination (or facility-approved exemption) required for assignments running November 1 through April 1; declinations are not accepted.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- 2 or more years of CVOR experience.
- Experience with CABG, surgical valve, thoracic, and cardiogenic shock patient populations.
- Proficiency with EPIC EMR.
- Demonstrated teamwork, flexibility, and reliability in a fast-paced perioperative environment.
