Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Full-Time | Days | Onsite | Expected 40 hours/week; 6:00 AM until cases are completed (typically ~3:00 PM); call expected 1–2 nights per week and every 2nd or 3rd weekend (Friday 7:00 AM – Monday 7:00 AM)
Key Responsibilities
- Perform extracorporeal circulation using heart-lung machines and ancillary devices to support cardiac surgeons during various cardiac surgical procedures
- Monitor a spectrum of physiologic parameters and respond to emergency situations during cardiopulmonary perfusion procedures
- Operate blood salvage and hemoconcentration devices, including Cell Saver and Hemoconcentrator
- Manage HIPEC pumping and heating systems for general surgical chemotherapy treatments
- Set up, prime, initiate, and troubleshoot ECMO for cardiac and/or pulmonary support of patients outside of the operating room environment
- Adhere to quality assurance policies and procedures to ensure accurate and safe practices; maintain clear documentation and communicate effectively with patients, family members, and the broader healthcare team
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent perfusion experience; must be able to perform all duties with minimal supervision
- Active Perfusion Certification required
- Active BLS certification required (American Heart Association only)
- Proficiency with ECMO required
- Local placements are welcome within an 80-mile radius of the facility
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with Heartmate II and/or LVAD support
- Familiarity with Stockert S5 by LivaNova, CardioHelp by Getinge, Belmont, and/or Angiovac equipment
- Experience supporting HIPEC procedures in a general surgical setting
- Demonstrated ability to manage fluids, blood, and electrolyte therapy across a variety of medical/surgical patient populations
