Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse (RN) Specialty: Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 3+ years of CVOR experience, Open Heart experience License: Active Michigan license Certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA) Must-Have: Recent travel work history preferred Description: This position is responsible for assessing the needs of each patient before and during a surgical procedure. The RN maintains patient safety throughout the procedure. The RN outlines individual care plans, implements, evaluates, and documents care of patients during surgical procedures. This role provides leadership to the operating room team. The RN communicates with the patient and family, operating room team, supervisor, and ancillary departments. Participation in staff development through preceptorship and continuing education is expected. The RN assesses the needs of the surgical patient. The RN develops a plan of care specific to that patient. Implementation and evaluation of the plan of care during the procedure is required. The RN makes necessary adjustments keeping patient safety a priority. Supervising activity in the room is a key responsibility. The RN anticipates and coordinates any schedule changes for the room. Assembling equipment and supplies is necessary. The RN assists anesthesia as needed and monitors the sterile field. Effective communication with the patient, family, physician, operating room team, supervisor/manager, and ancillary departments is essential. Participation in staff development by attending educational meetings, staff meetings, and other seminars for educational opportunities and leadership growth is expected.
