Key Responsibilities
Utilize the nursing process to perform assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care for all age groups in a Cardiac Medical ICU setting
Monitor and coordinate patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize patient outcomes and comfort
Maintain professional accountability for the provision of care and evaluate the overall effectiveness of care delivered by other direct care givers
Operate and manage advanced equipment including Impella, IABP, Prismax CRRT, Zoll internal cooling device, and Arctic Sun
Care for a complex patient population including sepsis, post-cardiac arrest, respiratory failure, GI bleed, DKA, PE, renal failure, liver failure, pancreatitis, and overdose
Maintain patient rights and confidentiality of patient information in accordance with established nursing practice guidelines and applicable state regulations
Required Qualifications
Current RN license; must meet eligibility criteria for licensure in the state of Missouri or hold an active Missouri RN license
Minimum 3 years of Cardiac Medical ICU experience (inpatient only)
Experience recovering open-heart surgery patients directly from the OR (CVI experience)
BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association (AHA) only
NIHSS certification required
Flu vaccination or approved exemption required for assignments running November 1 through April 1; declinations are not accepted
Preferred Experience / Skills
TNCC certification preferred
Experience with medical ICU patients with a cardiac emphasis, including arrhythmias, STEMI management, and post-cardiac arrest care
Familiarity with EPIC EMR
