    Job Title

    Registered Nurse (RN) – CVICU / Acute Cardiac Intermediate Unit

    Contract | Days | 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM) | Onsite

    Key Responsibilities
    • Provide direct patient care in a 20-bed, all-private, fully monitored acute cardiac intermediate unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3 (up to 1:4 based on acuity)
    • Manage a complex cardiovascular patient population including stepdown patients, TAVRs, ablations, heart failure, trached and ventilated patients, and EP procedure patients
    • Titrate multiple vasoactive and sedation drips including dopamine, dobutamine, levophed, epinephrine, vasopressin, propofol, fentanyl, versed, insulin, heparin, and others per protocol and physician orders
    • Operate and troubleshoot specialty intervention equipment including Swan-Ganz catheters, external/temporary pacemakers, IABPs, and manage lines including PICC, midlines, CVCs, arterial lines (radial and femoral)
    • Read and interpret cardiac monitor strips independently; all patients are on Philips monitoring with monitor tech support available
    • Float to all levels of care as needed, including up to the ICU, and assume a full patient team assignment
    Required Qualifications
    • Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
    • BLS certification required
    • Minimum of 2 years of CVICU or Cardiac ICU experience; must be able to function independently from day one without unit-specific training on equipment or patient population
    • Proficiency with cardiovascular ICU components including swan management, CVC and arterial line management, temporary pacemakers, IABPs, and ventilated/trached patients
    • Ability to titrate multiple drips simultaneously and interpret cardiac strips
    • Must be able to pass a drug screen; facility is a drug-free campus
    • Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for the standard bill rate
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • ACLS certification preferred
    • CCRN or PCCN certification is a plus
    • Experience with immediate post-operative cardiac patients, VADs, or transplant is a bonus
    • Continued travel nursing experience with ICU-level assignments
