Contract | Travel | Nights | 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | 3 x 12-hour shifts per week, including every other weekend | 13-Week Assignment
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a 28-bed mixed ICU setting with patient ratios of 1:2 to 1:3, including holding inpatient PCU and med-surg admissions
- Manage critically ill patients including post-op day 0 CABG (fresh hearts from OR), Impella, balloon pumps, Swan-Ganz, and advanced hemodynamics
- Care for neuro patients including aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage; experience with EVDs, bolts (Codman), and Arctic Sun induced hypothermia protocols
- Administer respiratory treatments (inhalers and nebulizers) outside of the ICU as needed
- Conduct bedside shift report for every patient at each transfer of care
- Float to the emergency department or PCU to care for PCU or ICU holds per facility floating policy; travelers are first to float
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license with a minimum of 2 years of RN experience, including at least 1 year in an ICU setting
- BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications required
- Ability to manage up to 1–3 ICU patients simultaneously, including patients on mechanical ventilation
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting telemetry strips
- At least one previous successful travel nursing assignment
- Ability to work every other weekend and holidays in rotation with hospital staff
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior CVICU experience strongly preferred
- Experience with CRRT, advanced hemodynamics, and phlebotomy
- Familiarity with Meditech documentation system
- BSN preferred; advanced certifications (e.g., TNCC) preferred
