Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Every Other Weekend Required
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to complex cardiac surgery patients including post-operative open heart recovery, heart transplantation, and ventricular assist device management
- Manage and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips, IV insulin protocols, continuous IV paralytics, neuromuscular blockade, and procedural sedation
- Operate and monitor advanced hemodynamic and renal support devices including Impella, IABP, and CRRT via PrisMax
- Perform and manage ventilator care, chest tube insertion/removal, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, ABGs, and ETT/NT suctioning
- Monitor and interpret dysrhythmias, 12-lead EKGs, FloTrac/Vigileo, and temporary pacers
- Float within skillset to all ICUs, PACU ICU holds, ED ICU holds, and Cardiac IMC units as needed
Required Qualifications
- Active NJ RN license or Compact license required at time of submission
- Required certifications at time of submission: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of recent CVICU experience; SICU experience may be considered if initial training was completed in a CVICU
- Must have hands-on experience with fresh post-op cardiac cases including CABG, MVR, AVR, and TAVR
- Must have experience with Impella, IABP, and CRRT using PrisMax
- EPIC charting experience required
- Locals accepted
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with hypothermia protocol and Arctic Sun management
- Experience with lumbar drains and CVA/acute stroke care
- Background in multisystem organ dysfunction and failure management
- Familiarity with ECMO in a cardiac surgical setting
