Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a Cardiothoracic ICU setting utilizing a universal bed model, including care for step-down level patients
• Manage arterial lines, central lines, PICC lines, and continuous IV sedation; titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Monitor and interpret hemodynamic data including FloTrac/Vigileo, Pulmonary Artery/Swan-Ganz lines, and Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump and Impella devices
• Care for post-cardiac surgery patients (including direct OR arrivals), pre/post cardiac cath/intervention, and patients with multi-system organ failure
• Provide neurological care including post-brain surgery patients and EVD/ventriculostomy management; support CVA/acute stroke management
• Manage ventilated patients including ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula, ABG interpretation, and suctioning; maintain infection prevention and isolation precautions

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in a CVICU or CTICU setting
• Active Virginia or Compact RN license in hand at time of submission - no exceptions
• Proficiency in Epic EHR required - no exceptions
• BLS certification (American Heart Association only)
• ACLS certification (American Heart Association only)
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
• Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
• No prior license or background hits will be considered - no exceptions
• Candidates must pass an EKG/telemetry test with a score of 80% or higher prior to start; one attempt is given with no remediation available
• Facility cannot accommodate PAPR; any history of fit test issues will disqualify a candidate

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Previous travel nursing experience preferred
• Experience with CVVHD/CRRT and IV insulin protocols
• Experience with CABG patients and post-cardiac surgery care directly from the OR
• Strong background in neuro ICU care including EVD/ventriculostomy management
