Travel Nurse RN - Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit in Baltimore, MD

Assist with and support bedside procedures including central line and arterial line insertions, bronchoscopy, chest tube insertion, Swan/PA catheter insertion, targeted temperature management, and CRRT. Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a CVICU setting serving adult and geriatric populations with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:1, up to 1:3 for stable, lower-acuity patients
• Manage complex cardiac diagnoses including cardiogenic shock, cardiac arrest, heart failure, MI, cardiac arrhythmias, pulmonary hypertension, and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
• Operate and monitor specialized equipment including Impella, IABP, VAD, CRRT, mechanical ventilators, and cooling devices
• Assist with and support bedside procedures including central line and arterial line insertions, bronchoscopy, chest tube insertion, Swan/PA catheter insertion, targeted temperature management, and CRRT
• Participate in advanced therapy workups for LVAD and heart transplant candidates
• Float within specialty and to lower-acuity units as needed; holiday and on-call shifts required as scheduled

Required Qualifications

• Active Maryland RN license or active Compact RN license at time of submission
• BLS certification (AHA only) required
• ACLS certification (AHA only) required
• CPI certification required (Calm Every Storm online version is the only acceptable online vendor)
• Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience required; first-time travelers with strong CVICU background including IABP and Impella experience will be considered
• Must reside 50 or more miles from the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• NIHSS certification preferred
• CCRN certification preferred
• Experience with advanced mechanical circulatory support devices including Impella and IABP
• Familiarity with LVAD management and heart transplant workup protocols
