Contract | Days | 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM) | 4 shifts per week | Every third weekend expected | Approximately 4 weekend shifts per contract | Self-scheduling unit; block scheduling cannot be accommodated
Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity cardiovascular critical care, including immediate post-operative care for open-heart surgery patients in a 19-bed CVICU with an average daily census of approximately 15 patients at a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Manage complex diagnoses including post-operative CABG, valve repair/replacement, aortic aneurysm/dissection, cardiogenic shock, acute myocardial infarction, acute heart failure, respiratory failure, and cardiac arrhythmias
• Operate and monitor advanced mechanical circulatory support devices including ECMO circuits, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumps (IABP), and Impella
• Manage mechanical ventilation, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation, CRRT/CVVHD, and continuous IV sedation and vasoactive drip titration
• Perform and interpret dysrhythmia monitoring, 12-lead EKG/ECG, Swan-Ganz/Pulmonary Artery Line monitoring, epicardial pacing wire management, and invasive arterial pressure monitoring
• Float to MICU or Stroke/Neuro Unit (STU/NEU) within scope as needed based on facility needs

Required Qualifications

• Active, valid Registered Nurse (RN) license required at time of submission; Pennsylvania licensure required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of strong, recent CVICU experience required; first-time travelers are not accepted

• Locals are welcome; candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are eligible and a local rate differential applies

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Experience with ECMO circuits and temporary pacemakers preferred
• Familiarity with Baxter infusion pumps and chest drainage systems preferred
