Description:
The unit has 20 private, monitored beds.
Nurse-patient ratios are 1:1, 1:2, or 2:1 based on patient acuity.
Common patient diagnoses include post open heart surgical patients, CABG, valve procedures, and cardiomyopathy.
The patient population may include ventilated patients and overflow patients from other ICUs.
Specialty intervention equipment includes IABPs, Impellas, Swan Ganz catheters, and ECMO.
RNs must be proficient in managing various titratable and set rate drips such as levophed, dopamine, and insulin.
Charge nurses and house supervisors are present 24/7.
Patient Care Techs are also available; ratios can vary based on staffing.
Respiratory therapists are in the unit 24/7.
RNs are responsible for reading and interpreting telemetry strips from Philips monitoring systems.
Shifts are scheduled for 12 hours, not self-scheduled.
Weekend and holiday requirements include every other weekend and holiday.
RNs may be expected to float to different levels of care.
Appropriate scrub attire is required without specific color restrictions.
The unit seeks candidates proficient in all aspects of cardiovascular ICU care.
Cancellation policy allows for client-initiated cancellation up to 12 hours every 13 weeks.
