Description

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Adult Cardiac Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Active Nursing License Certifications: BLS, ACLS preferred, CCRN a plus Must-Have: Strong assessment skills, critical thinking, and communication abilities. At least 2 years of CVICU experience with the ability to take care of complex patients without direct supervision. Description: Unit has 20 private, monitored beds. Nurse-patient ratios vary between 1:1, 1:2, or 2:1 based on patient acuity. Common patient population includes post-open heart surgical patients. Diagnoses include CABG, valve replacements, dissections, vascular procedures, STEMI, unstable angina, cardiogenic shock, and severe heart failure. Must be familiar with targeted temperature management, transcutaneous pacing, and transvenous pacing. Experience with specialized equipment such as IABPs, Impellas, Swan Ganz catheters, ECMO, and external pacemakers is crucial. Qualifications include the ability to titrate various medications and drips such as dopamine, dobutamine, levophed, and insulin. Charge nurses are present 24/7, and they may take patient assignments. Patient care techs will assist with care, with nurse-patient ratios typically running from 1:12 to 1:15. Clientists and intensivists are continuously available in-house. Respiratory therapists are also available 24/7 for patient needs. All patients are connected to a monitory system, and RNs are expected to interpret monitoring strips. Shifts are not self-scheduled for travelers, and staff are required to work every other weekend, along with holiday rotations. Travelers are expected to take a full patient assignment and must be proficient in cardiovascular ICU components, including the use of swans, CVCs, arterial lines, and temporary pacemakers. Cancellation policy allows for cancellation with proper notice every 13 weeks. Charting is done through an electronic system. The care setting is acute, and the division is nursing.
