Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: CVICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 3 years of Cardiac ICU experience required License: Pending license accepted Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Greater than 1 year of ICU experience required. Must have experience and be proficient with Swan-Ganz monitoring. First-timers accepted with Cardiac Thoracic ICU experience and/or critical care experience. Description: Start date for the position is negotiable. Ratios: Average 1:2 days, Average 1:2 nights. Experience requires a focus on high acuity cardiac ICU. Every other weekend rotation is required. Will float to other ICUs as needed. Knowledgeable and experienced RNs preferred. The unit typically handles patients post-CABG, valve repairs/replacements, aneurysm repairs, and transplants. Expectations include managing complex patient needs and utilizing specialized equipment. Special procedures include ECMO cannulation and bronchoscopy. Interdisciplinary support is available from therapy, radiology, pharmacy, and social services. The unit consists of 18 beds and maintains a daily census of approximately 16 patients. Staffing is organized on a 6-week basis to ensure adequate coverage and skill mix. Requests for scheduling changes will be considered but are not guaranteed. Compliance with infection prevention protocols and safe patient care practices is essential. Strong communication and team collaboration skills are essential for success in this role.
