Description

Job Title: Rapid Response RN Profession: Nursing Specialty: Rapid Response Duration: 6 weeks Shift: 07:00-19:00 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 36 months RN experience, with at least one year in an ICU License: Active nursing license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale Must-Have: Ability to care for up to 1-3 ICU patients. Comfort in managing patients on a ventilator. Proficiency in reading telemetry strips. Previous travel nursing assignment preferred. Description: This position is for a Rapid Response RN role. The unit has 28 mixed ICU beds. Patient ratios are 1:2 to 1:3, accommodating inpatient transfers. Staffing includes RNs with specific patient care responsibilities. Each care team member is equipped with mobile phones, and there is a mobile computer workstation on wheels. The documentation system used is Meditech. RNs are required to work three 12-hour shifts per week, including every other weekend. Travelers are first to float, which may include rotations to the emergency department or PCU. Bedside shift report is the method of patient handoff. Candidates should have experience with advanced skills such as CRRT, advanced hemodynamics, and phlebotomy. Nurses administer respiratory treatments outside of the ICU. Procedures in the unit include post-op management for CABG patients, impella, balloon pumps, Swan Ganz, and advanced hemodynamics. Experience with neuro procedures, including aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage and EVDs, is preferred. Candidates should possess a BSN and hold advanced certifications, with TNCC certification as a plus. The dress code requires a navy uniform. The unit is open to training travelers interested in becoming skilled in Neuro ICU or Cardiovascular ICU nursing. Training opportunities are available for managing patients with head and neck flap procedures. This unit is recognized as one of the few specialized programs in the nation.
