Schedule: 12-hour shifts with every other weekend requirement; holiday coverage required (1 of 2 or 2 of 3 holidays per unit needs); facility may call off 1 shift per 2-week period
Highlights:
- Work in a 628-bed academic Level I Trauma Center affiliated with a major university, caring for complex cardiac surgery patients including heart transplant, VAD, TAVR, and ECMO cases
- Comprehensive Cardiac Center accredited program offering advanced cardiac procedures including CABG, valve replacement, and aortic surgery
- Patient ratios of 1:1 to 1:2+ based on acuity; EPIC charting system
- Float within skillset to all ICUs, PACU ICU holds, ED ICU holds, and Cardiac IMC units
- First-time travelers and local candidates welcome at the same rate
- Navy blue scrubs; comprehensive interdisciplinary support including PT, RT, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
Requirements:
- Active New Jersey or Compact RN license required at time of submission
- Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of recent CVICU experience required; SICU experience may be considered if initial training was completed in a CVICU setting
- Must have hands-on experience with fresh post-operative cardiac cases including CABG, MVR, AVR, and TAVR
- Required experience with Impella, IABP, and CRRT using PrisMax
- EPIC charting experience required
- Proficiency in critical care skills including: arterial lines, central/PICC lines, blood product administration, ventilator management, chest tube care, temporary pacers, FloTrac/Vigileo monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, titration of vasoactive and cardiac drips, continuous sedation and paralytic management
- Experience with CVA/stroke management, hypothermia protocol, lumbar drains, and multisystem organ dysfunction
- Charge experience preferred
