- Ability to occasionally paralyze and sedate patients.
- Experience in titrating drips.
Description:
Candidates should be open to floating between units.
This unit is busy and operates as a Large Level 1 Trauma center.
Flexibility in scheduling is necessary as self-scheduling is not available.
Every other weekend availability is required.
Documenting patient care is done using EPIC software.
Successful candidates typically have 3 or more years of experience, including travel experience, in a high-acuity hospital.
The unit has 18 beds with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2, occasionally 1:1.
Common diagnoses treated include heart failure, STEMI, pulmonary emboli, and arrhythmias.
Patient care assistant support is minimal, typically one assistant for all 18 beds when available.
The unit is not yet a closed unit, but intensivist models are in place for MICU patients.
Patients undergoing respiratory therapy receive assistance and troubleshooting from RNs.
RNs are responsible for interpreting their own telemetry strips.
Weekend and holiday coverage is usually required for staff.
There is no on-call or standby requirement for this position.
Scrub colors include teal tops and bottoms, and solid or coordinated non-terrycloth jackets are permitted.
Orientation for unit-specific procedures consists of two 12-hour shifts.
