Candidates should be proficient in using various cardiac monitoring equipment. Experience with titratable drips such as dopamine, dobutamine, levophed, and more is essential. Strong assessment skills, critical thinking, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are required. The nurse will work with a high-acuity patient population, including those on ventilators and advanced cardiac devices. Teamwork, communication skills, and compassion are necessary for success in this role. Candidates must be able to interpret cardiac strips autonomously. The unit has a charge nurse and house supervisor available at all times. Respiratory therapists are present 24/7, and the role requires some collaboration with them. Further responsibilities include coordinating care and following protocols as needed. Floating to other units may be required based on patient needs. Nurses are expected to maintain a professional appearance in the workplace. The role entails working every other weekend and on holidays as scheduled.
