Must-Have:
- At least 2 solid years of CVICU experience.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
- Strong assessment skills, critical thinking, communication, organization, teamwork, compassion, and time management.
- Must be able to interpret EKG strips.
- Proficiency in managing patients post open-heart surgical procedures, including those with various cardiovascular conditions.
Description:
The unit consists of 20 private, monitored beds with nurse-patient ratios of 1:1, 1:2, or 2:1 depending on patient acuity.
Common diagnoses include post open-heart surgical patients, CABG, valve replacements, and other cardiovascular procedures.
Specialty intervention equipment utilized includes IABPs, Impellas, Swan Ganz catheters, ECMO, and external pacemakers.
Registered Nurses will titrate various drips such as dopamine, dobutamine, and vasopressin.
Charge nurses are present 24/7 and may take patient assignments.
Patient care technicians are available, with varying patient ratios.
Providers are in-house 24/7, and respiratory therapists are available at all times.
RNs are required to read and interpret EKG strips while monitor techs are also present.
Weekend and holiday coverage is required on an every-other basis.
Floating to different levels of care may be necessary as assigned.
Apparel guidelines require scrubs to be clean and appropriate in appearance, but no specific color is mandated.
The ideal candidate must be proficient in all cardiovascular ICU components, with experience using advanced patient monitoring and management equipment.
