Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years preferred License: State or Compact license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Previous charge experience preferred Description: The position requires a Registered Nurse in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit. The unit accepts first-time travelers. The facility is a Level 2 Trauma center with a comprehensive stroke center and an advanced cardiac program. Patients include those undergoing cardiac surgery and critical care management. The nurse will handle a patient ratio of 2:1. Key skills include managing ventilated patients, administering blood products, and central line care. Experience with various monitoring equipment and protocols is essential. The ideal candidate will provide care for patients with multi-system organ dysfunction and acute stroke management. The nurse must also be proficient in interpreting dysrhythmias and arterial blood gases. Procedural sedation administration and phlebotomy skills are required. Daily census in the unit averages 15 patients with 20 beds available. Interdisciplinary support includes respiratory services, physical therapy, and pharmacy. Special procedures include open-heart surgery and ECMO. Equipment used includes balloon pumps and specialized monitoring devices. Flexibility in scheduling and willingness to work weekends is required.
