CICU/CVICU Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: CVICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night 3x12-Hour Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years in CVICU required; will accept first-time travelers with strong skill/experience License: Active state RN license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, CPI, NIH; CCRN preferred Must-Have: - Strong experience in critical care nursing - Familiarity with patient management in a fast-paced environment Description: The position is for a CICU/CVICU Registered Nurse for night shifts. The candidate will provide care for critically ill patients. A minimum of 2 years of experience in a CVICU setting is required, though strong first-time travelers may be considered. The shift will be 3x12 hours from 19:00 to 07:30. Every other weekend and holiday coverage will be required. Floating within the CVICU specialty to lower acuity patients may be necessary. The average daily census is 10 patients in a 15-bed unit. The nurse-to-patient ratio typically is 1:1, up to 3 with stable, lower acuity patients. Common diagnoses include cardiogenic shock, cardiac arrest, and heart failure. Experience with advanced therapy workups and mechanical support devices is desired. Special procedures include bedside central and arterial line insertions, chest tube insertions, and targeted temperature management. The use of specialized equipment such as Impella, VADs, IABPs, and CRRT is expected. Candidates must possess skills in managing ventilated patients and interpreting arterial blood gases. Compliance with trauma level experience is preferred but not mandatory. The ability to work independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team is essential.
