- Floating required within the specialty, lower acuity as needed
- May be required to be on call
Description:
This position is for a Registered Nurse in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit.
The role involves providing care to adult and geriatric patients.
Common diagnoses include cardiogenic shock, cardiac arrest, heart failure, and cardiac arrhythmias.
The nurse will manage patients with advanced therapy workups such as LVAD and heart transplants.
Responsibilities include bedside central and arterial line insertions, bronchoscopy, and chest tube insertion.
The nurse will participate in targeted temperature management and CRRT.
Special equipment utilized in this unit includes Impella, VAD, IABP, CRRT, and cooling devices.
The patient-to-nurse ratio is typically 1:1, with stable lower acuity patients possibly increasing the ratio to 3:1.
Orientation to the unit is provided for new hires.
Candidates must be comfortable with various procedures, including post-cardiac surgery care and ventilator management.
