Description

CICU/CVICU RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: CVICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Rotating day/night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years in CVICU required; first-time travelers with strong skills and experience in CVICU will be accepted. License: Active RN state license Certifications: BLS, ACLS, CPI, NIH; CCRN preferred Must-Have: - Ability to float within specialty as needed - Available to work every other weekend and required holidays Description: CICU/CVICU RN position available with rotating day and night shifts. The average daily census is 10 patients, with a staffing ratio of 1:1 or up to 3 with stable, lower acuity patients. Common diagnoses include cardiogenic shock, cardiac arrest, heart failure, and cardiac arrhythmias. Special procedures required include bedside central line and arterial line insertions, bronchoscopy, and chest tube insertions. Experience with mechanical support devices, including IABP and Impella, is preferred. The unit will also be involved in advanced therapy workups such as LVAD and heart transplants. Applicants should have skills in accessing and managing ports, blood product administration, and managing ventilated patients. This position requires familiarity with charting systems and adherence to infection prevention protocols. Candidates must be comfortable floating to lower acuity units as needed. Certified nursing staff will benefit from interdisciplinary support, including physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy interactions. Weekend work and on-call requirements may be necessary based on unit needs.
