Description:
Traveler will be scheduled in accordance with facility policy.
Expectations include working every other weekend and holidays in rotation with hospital employees.
Unit has 28 beds with mixed ICU patient ratios of 1:2 and 1:3.
Staffing includes registered nurses.
Equipment includes i-mobile phones and mobile computer workstations on wheels.
Documentation is done using Meditech.
Scheduling requirement is 3 - 12 hour shifts per week, including every other weekend.
Travelers are the first to float, which may involve going to the emergency department or other units to care for holds.
Bedside shift report is the method of patient handoff.
Advanced skills required include CRRT, advanced hemodynamics, and phlebotomy.
Nurses administer breathing treatments outside of the ICU using inhalers and nebulizers.
Procedures performed on the unit include post-operative care for CABG, impellas, balloon pumps, and Swan Ganz.
Experience with neuro procedures such as EVDs and induced hypothermia is preferred.
A BSN is preferred, along with advanced certifications.
Willingness to train travelers interested in becoming skilled in Neuro or Cardiovascular ICU nursing is available.
Potential training includes care for patients with head and neck flap procedures.
