Must-Have:
- Competence in invasive line monitoring (Swan Ganz, a-lines)
- Experience with pacemakers (epicardial, transvenous), chest tubes, and cardiac medications (inotropes, vasopressors, sedation, and paralytics)
- Knowledge in ventilator and tracheostomy management
- Cardiac rhythm interpretation abilities
- EPIC experience
- Specific CV surgical experience (ECMO, CVVH, IABP, VAD) preferred
Description:
The unit is a critical care environment with a focus on cardiovascular patients.
Common patient types include immediate post-operative CABG, valve repairs, and heart transplants.
Patients may also have undergone thoracic and vascular surgeries.
The typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:1 for intensive cases, 1:2 for regular ICU status, and 1:3 for mixed status.
Support includes a charge nurse who rarely has patient assignments, with additional personnel available around the clock.
Telemetry monitoring is maintained at the nurses' station with bedside assistance.
Nurses are expected to draw from invasive lines; peripheral sticks are not permitted.
Staff will be scheduled for weekend rotations every other weekend.
Expected holiday requirements are 1-2 per contract, with prior scheduling notice provided.
Scrub colors must be solid and professional with no graphics or logos.
A fatigue policy is in place to ensure safe working hours.
