Description

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night 3x12-Hour; Day 3x12-Hour Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years CVICU experience required; Telemetry test required prior to starting License: RN license required Certifications: AHA BLS and ACLS required Must-Have: Experience and knowledge of the NextStage CVVH machine Telemetry test completion required Description: This position requires working day and night shifts. Shifts are 12 hours long, working 0700-1930 and 1900-0730. Every other weekend and some holidays are required. There is no call requirement for this role. Experience in cardiothoracic surgery is preferred. The unit specializes in post-operative care for patients recovering from cardiothoracic surgeries. Patients include those undergoing CABG, valve repairs, aortic dissection repairs, and heart transplants. Nurses will utilize various advanced cardiac technologies and care protocols. The nurse-patient ratio is typically 1-2 patients but may increase to 3 if acuity is low. Support staff includes charge nurses and rapid response nurses. The facility is a Magnet-designated hospital, recognized for excellence in patient care. Candidates must possess strong skills in managing critically ill patients. Additional skills include arterial line management, central venous pressure monitoring, and care of ventilated patients. The ideal candidate will have experience in ECMO, IABP, and assisting with chest tube management. Nurses are expected to deliver care with a commitment to meeting patient and family needs. Floats may be required as needed.
