Description

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 (19:00 - 07:30) Experience: CVICU experience required; 2 years of acute care experience preferred License: Registered Nurse license required Certifications: AHA BLS and ACLS required Must-Have: - Experience and knowledge of NextStage CVVH machine required - Experience in Cardiothoracic Surgery and/or Acuity Adaptable area preferred - Traveler will be required to pass a telemetry test prior to being cleared to start Description: Evening/Night shifts with every other weekend rotation and some holidays, no call. Experience in Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit is necessary. Knowledge of the NextStage CVVH machine is required. Experience in Cardiothoracic Surgery or Acuity Adaptable areas is preferred. A valid Registered Nurse license is required. Certifications in AHA BLS and ACLS are mandatory. The traveler must pass a telemetry test before starting the assignment. Daily staffing includes two Care Team Leaders, one Rapid Response Nurse, and sixteen RNs. Patient assignments generally involve caring for 1-2 patients; up to 3 patients may be assigned if acuity is low. The unit handles a wide range of patient diagnoses including CABG, heart transplants, and cardiac medical patients. There are 27 private rooms available for intensive care. The unit environment provides high levels of support with interdisciplinary teams. Nurses are expected to deliver care using technological expertise while meeting patient and family needs. Staff assignments may change throughout the shift due to patient transfers and emergent admissions. The team is equipped to handle a wide range of acute cases and procedures, including cardiac and thoracic surgeries. Communication and collaboration are key components of the care delivery model.
