A caring environment focused on healing and wellness is created. Nursing practices are based on evidence and current research, as well as hospital and department policies and procedures. Regulatory standards and professional guidelines inform clinical decision-making. All four phases of the nursing process are utilized, incorporating critical thinking and creativity. Nursing excellence is promoted through collaborative relationships among nursing staff and across disciplines. Direct patient care activities on the unit include nursing rounds, assessments, and treatments. Admission, transfer, and discharge activities are facilitated. Patient and family-centered education is provided. Care coordination and individualized treatment planning are conducted when applicable. Responsibilities include: - Performing and documenting comprehensive patient assessments. - Considering the patient's culture, age, and developmental level. - Identifying patient risk factors and presenting complaints. - Collecting health information as necessary. - Developing a prioritized problem list based on inter-professional team input. - Designing actions and interventions relevant to the patient's context. - Determining desired outcomes in coordination with the patient and family. - Implementing patient care therapies and procedures according to established guidelines. - Explaining procedures, treatments, and processes to the patient and family. - Recognizing, responding to, and communicating changes in patient conditions. - Conducting ongoing assessments and documenting responses according to established protocols. - Delegating tasks appropriately while overseeing team member performance. - Monitoring the accuracy and completeness of delegated patient care. - Addressing educational needs of patients based on prioritized issues. - Facilitating the discharge process by executing timely discharge orders and teaching. - Providing input into patient assignments while considering staffing and acuity. - Participating in unit-based activities that support organizational values. - Promoting a positive group dynamic and healing environment. - Participating in quality improvement activities and core measures. - Using a holistic perspective regarding patient care. This role requires a full-time RN for the night shift, with responsibilities during weekends and holidays as per unit needs.
